Hayley's Past - Part 1
As we arrive, I can't help but feel a shiver running through my spine. I recognise this place. The Murken Forest.
Sonic looks around, but his body soon meets a wall.
"Don't try and move," I say. "This is a memory of the past. What you see here cannot be changed."
"How long ago did this happen?" Sonic asks.
"8 years ago." It's true. This happened on my 8th birthday. And I still remember it clearly.
And now, the teachers of Mobius High, the only ones who know my secret, are about to see this memory.
It first reveals the 8-year-old version of myself, hiding under a clothed table. The voice of my mother, Gina Suntora, then booms through the camp, and her giggle relaxes me. Eventually, Gina finds me in the memory, and I watch as my younger self starts to run, with my mother chasing after me. It's quite funny to watch, but at the same time, it brings tears to my eyes. I miss my mother so much.
Gina catches up to my younger self, and the little girl that I am watching - that younger version of me that has no idea what is about to happen - starts to laugh.
A shadow them emerges from the trees. At first, I think it's the Void, here to spoil my birthday. Here to commit the terrible act they did. But it's not. It can't be, not yet. There's something missing. As the shadow appears, I recognise who it is. Maximus Suntora - my father, and King of Balenor.
"Oh my goodness, Maximus, what happened?" my mother asks him. To be honest, he does look badly injured. My own hand clenches into a fist. I wanted to avenge them so badly before, but now that urge is bigger than ever. It's itching in my head, it will not leave until it is done.
"Yaros," my father replies. "He's here."
As my mother gasps, my 8 year old self starts to worry. My mother hugs me. "Don't worry, Hayley," she says. "We'll make sure you're safe."
Another rustle. NOW it's them.

"Elise, take Hayley back to the castle! Hurry!"
That very line, that very saying, is where it starts. Elise picks my younger self up, placing me atop her steed. As she rides off, my father draws his sword, and my mother assembles her crossbow. Their last fight, and I finally get to see how it happened.
My father is the first to attack, he sends a whirlwind from the tip of his sword towards the Voiders, lead by Yaros. I want to help, too. But I know I can't. This is a memory, just as I told the teachers.
But still, if I could, I would.
All we can do is watch, as my parents prepare for what is to be their final battle.
