The Story at Dinner

The Story at Dinner As my sisters and I sit at the table eating happily we all can tell that mom and dad have something they're hiding from us, and we all knew what it was." You see my mom has been expecting triplets for a while now (which by the way, she's pretty big), and we all begged them continuously to tell us whether they would be girls or boys or both. Finally they relented, and mom went to the doctor today to get the answer. Now we wait.
"OK, mom, spit it out! What are they?!" Brianna finally spits out. I can tell that she's wanted to say it for a while now.
"Fine! I won't be able to keep it in much longer anyways..."
"But first we must tell you the story we told everyone else before they found out." Says dad.
As he says this I hear six groans, but since I'm the youngest I've never heard this before so I guess you could say I'm interested.
"Daaaaad! Just tell us!" Rocky whines.
"Uhhh, do you want us to tell you or not?"
"Well, yes, but..." Christina objects.
"OK, we'll just put it off for a few weeks, and tell it before you get to see the babies..." Mom says.
After a few seconds of no objections dad finally begins, "Now as you all know there are seven of you, but if everything goes right there will be ten of you in a week or so, and I bet your wondering what gender they will be....well, I'll tell if you're patient, and listen to the whole story. We started with Raquel who is now eighteen, and while once we called her cute, now we call her "the dramatic". Next we had  Brianna and Christine who are now seventeen, and while once we called them lovely, now we call them laid- back. Then we had Riley, and while once we called her lovely, now we call her "the kind".  Next comes Kayla who is now fifteen, and while once we called her sweet, now we call her "the diva". Aft-"
"Wait what!?...diva? Since when am I a diva?" Kayla says after processing dad's words.
"Well, let's out it this way, if you're not the diva then who else is gonna be?" Mom answers.
"I don't know...J?"
Everyone laughs at this, but I don't, and in order not to make this awkward for me I look at dad with a pleading face and ask him to continue with the story. To my pleasure he instantly does.
"Anyways!....After Kayla came Mia who is now fourteen, and while once we called her tender, now we call her "the foolish"."
"OK! I don't remember that last time! Last time you told this story I was still tender! C'mon! You can't just change the story like that, dad!" Mia argues.
"Sure he can!" says Rocky.
"How come?!"
"Well, maybe because the last time you heard this story you were like four?"
"Whatever, but foolish still doesn't describe me at all!"
"OK, pick anybody at the table to describe you with one word." says mom smiling, "Choose carefully! Because this story is gonna go down in Gebfultie history, and you have better tell your kids the gender of their siblings this way too!"
"Or else..." Kayla trails off waiting for an answer.
"Or else consider me a stranger to your kids. Not a babysitter!" mom laughs.
"Well, either way you'll be a stranger. Plus I don't want a corps babysitting my children anyways!" Kayla remarks.
We all laughs, and mom leans across the table to hit Kayla with her napkin.
"Told ya you were the diva." mom says, and we all laugh even more.
After mom stops laughing she glances  at Mia and says, "Choose!"
"Oooo..." says Mia still laughing, "Well, this is kinda...really...extremely obvious! J!"
"Oh, boy!" I say.
"There we have it!" Brianna says obviously bored by the conversation.
"Haha..." Christine says with little emphasis. I guess she's bored to.
"OK...Uh," I continue trying to ignore the bored looks the twins kept giving me," I'd say..... "the strong", no, "the smart", nah, "the bold", yes, that's it! "The Bold"!"
With this Christine looks at me with appreciation, and then she nods at dad to continue.
"After Mia-" dad tries to continue.
"Whoa there! Don't for get about me!" Mia says followed by a couple sighs.
"OK, OK! After Kayla came Mia who is now fourteen, and while once we called her tender now we call her "the bold". Finally came Jeremy who is now ten, and while once we called him sunshine, now we call him "the considerate".....Now, the ones that you've all been waiting for...the triplets. In a couple weeks you will all have two new sisters, and one new brother."
Gasps, smiles, and looks are exchanged around the table, but not by me. I just sat there in awe. In a couple weeks (if everything went alright) I would have a baby brother....I would be popular.
