Moonlit Eyes, prologue
“Hey, are you ready?” A worried black cat was pacing a dimly lit cave, his mind filled with endless possibilities, most of them ending badly. His name was Willow. The ground shook, causing a gasp of fear from the medicine room. “Of course I'm ready, we just need to…. hope that Sunray doesn’t find us..?” As his name states, Stripenight is a black and grey striped tabby cat. Willow and Stripenight are the leaders of the Dusk and Lunar tribes and currently allied. Why? The great war of the Stars. The great war of the Stars started nine years ago in the Lunar Tribe’s territory. The attackers were all Solar tribe aggressors. At the time, Sunray had just become the leader of the solar tribe, and he declared war for one reason; bloodshed. For the last six years of Sunray’s life before he was crowned leader, he was called the merciless prince. When his crowning day finally came, the first thing he did was order a group of scouts to attack the Lunar Tribe’s main base at midnight.
After the attack, Stripenight would try to peacefully step out. However, the attacks kept coming. The tribe had no choice but to declare war. They quickly found out that the population of Solar cats was a lot more than was last counted. They needed backup. This is when Stripenight and Willow joined forces. However, they were not enough. The Solar tribe had 5,000 cats while the Lunar and Dust tribes combined only had 4,000.
Almost all hope was lost until a rumor started about an old prophecy telling about four kittens to be born when the moon was red. Tonight was that night. The first lunar eclipse in fifty years. A rustling could be heard near the entrance of the cave. Stripenight’s claws flexed until Dayspring’s gold pelt appeared in the entrance. She was the leader of the Dawn tribe and expectant of kittens. The other three carriers were in a separate part of the cave with Clinician, the medicine cat in the Dawn tribe.
“Right this way, Dayspring.” Clinician’s assistant, Fennel, was leading the females to the cave they were staying in, or the medicine cave. “I’m sure I can take her myself, Fennel-” “Firstmorn, it’s fine. Soon we’ll be proud parents, so don’t fret. ” Dayspring had a serious tone to her voice. As Fennel led Dayspring to the room, Firstmorn sighed and sat next to Stripenight. The ground shook once more. Earlier that day, a major earthquake happened. These were just the aftershocks.“I know it’s tough, but look at it this way; the war will end in a few years, for sure.” “ It’s not just that, I'm scared about Sunray.” “Why so?” “He.. he’s planning something.. And it’s not good.”
