Not So Human

Chapter 2

Well great. I feel like I’m going to be sick. I feel the hot tears on my face and wipe them away. I’m not sure what to do now that I’m completely friendless and a freak on so many levels… oh well…nothing else to do except sit in the library. When I get there I see the librarian look up and smile. I smile sheepishly and walk over to a corner and I sit down. I look around and notice that I’m not alone. I look at the boy with a curious look in my eye. He looks up and stares at me. I flash a smile his way feeling creepy for staring. He grins and comes over. I look up through my bangs. He laughs and says “Well hi there. I’m new here. Probably obvious though isn’t it? My name is Benjamin. But you can call me Ben if you want of course. And your name is?”
I stare at him in amazement. Wait he just asked me my name…I blush and stutter out “My name is Heaven”
“Well that name seems to work for such a beautiful girl like you” He smiles.
I feel my face turn even redder if that was possible. I look down nervously before saying “So where did you move here from?”
He smiles sweetly. “Well I think I’ll keep that a secret Miss Heaven…” he starts before we are interrupted.
I look up to see my now ex-friends staring at us with hatred painted into their eyes as they look at Ben. I narrow my eyes as Ben looks over. “Who are they?” he asks curiously.
I decide to play the lost little girl. “I don’t know but they look mean and angry don’t they.”
Ethan walks over looking as if he was going to kill somebody “Heaven please come back to class”
I look over at Ben with a look of pain on my face then he stands up. “Now why should she come with you? You who look as though you’re going to force feed her your favorite food. I think she should stay here where she feels safe and she is away from jerks like you.”
I stare at him in awe. Nobody and I repeat nobody has ever stood up for me like that. Riley has slowly come over then I notice the knife. I stand up and say “Come on Ben let’s leave them so they can be alone and hateful away from us.” Then I grab his arm and pull him away from them.
“Why didn’t you let me take them?” he asks aggravated.
I look down and say “Riley had a knife. I-I didn’t want you to get hurt. I thought it wouldn’t be good for you to be hurt for me. You barely know me…”
“That is no freaking excuse to drag me away like I’m some kind of child. You’re really a controlling b**ch you know that?” he exclaims.
I look up feeling as though he has slapped me. I narrow my eyebrows dangerously before saying in a dangerous whisper “don’t ever speak to me like that again or so help me god you will regret It.” Then I turn and storm out just as the boys are leaving.
I hear Riley say my name as I start moving towards the doors. Then I’m surrounded by all of the boys including Ben. Ethan is smirking in a way that makes me feel like I’m about to get hurt.
“Awe did little Heaven get angry?” he asks teasingly.
I look at him with a look of hatred filling my eyes. “I hate you, all of you. Go to hell.” Then I turn and storm out the doors with tears streaming down my cheeks.
I look up into the stormy sky and take a deep breath. Then I hear a whoosh of my wings and hear a gasp. When I turn to look at who it is, I hear some more gasps. I look at the boys. “What is your guys’ problem? Do you think I want to be around a bunch of jerks? Go away.”
Ethan points at my wings and is just staring at me. I look at my wings and almost fall to my knees. They are covered in blood. I just roll my eyes and turn to take off when Ethan says “You’re beautiful. You always were. I just didn’t know what to think. Then I saw you with Ben. I thought something was going on. I’m sorry.”
“Sorry won’t help you here. Not now.” Then I take off flying into the clouds and off to my house.
