Chapter 4, Entrapment
Chapter FourI managed to recreate my desk drawer, by making it both a protective case and also a deadly trap so no one could get close to my Death Note, ever. I made it so that a string is always pulled whenever you open the drawer but it was light and it made no difference in the tension when opening the door but the real trick was how to get to its secret department in the bottom of the drawer.
The Death Note is hidden underneath the fake bottom of the drawer between the real bottom of the drawer, the only way without triggering the switch to get to the Death Note was to place the key I had and turned it not all the way or else it will snap the string and unlatch the dangerous trap on to yourself. Then once the key is in the right spot you use the inside of a pen to place in a hole under the desk drawer just big enough to hold the pen, once done the lid pops up and the Death Note is revealed.
The dangerous thing about this desk was that if you open it too forcibly you might break the string and it will launch out a sharp blade at you, striking your main artery in your body, the stomach is the most likely to be hit.
Once I finally finished with the contraption I went straight to bed, I felt exhausted with all this new discovery of another unworldly power and the dealing with almost losing my sister, it proved too much even for my insomniac body, as soon as my head hit the pillow I fell in to a deep sleep. I woke up only four hours later only because I sleep for a small amount of time due to my insomnia. I looked over towards Light to see her sleeping peacefully. I sat on to a chair next to her and held her hand, hoping that she would wake up soon, I don’t know how long I waited but it seemed like hours when her sapphire eyes fluttered open, when she saw my I quickly pulled her up, being careful not to hurt her shoulder, and pulled her in to a tight hug.
“Oh thank goodness that you’re alright” I whimpered, tears almost at my eyes
She hugs me back gently, she finally pulls back with a questioning look in her eye “what happened?” she asks
I took a deep breath, “well, when we were outside, you were attacked, the attacker knocked you out and managed to stab you in your shoulder, which explains this” I state pointing at her injury “after that when I came racing towards you the man got up and he… well… he killed himself by stabbing his neck with a knife, ending his life immediately”
She looks at me with inquiry “but, that doesn’t sound right, I mean when L was close to catching him once he killed the girl before fleeing, it doesn’t add up”
I sighed deeply, I can’t run anything past her, I looked down at my hands then up at her before I spoke “you and I can keep a secret right?” I stated and nearly slapped myself when I asked that stupid question
Light raised a questioning brow but brushed it off “of course” she states smiling
I nodded and went over to the desk; I warned her about it while I opened it and took out the Death Note. I sat down next to her and told her what happened the day that she was attacked, it was a lot to take in for her but she managed.
“So… you saved me by using this… Death Note?” she asks
I nodded, I then pulled her in to another hug “don’t worry Light, I’m going to protect you no matter what, to the very end, I’m going to use this Death Note to cleanse this world of its evil and wicked to make it pure and safe for everyone” I whispered in her ear “I’m going to protect you” I whispered once more softly
She was quiet for a moment but didn’t spoke after a long moment of silence “I don’t think it’s right” she states sadly
I looked at her questionably “what do you mean Light?”
“I mean taking life, its…” she then shook her head “wrong” she finished
I shook my head as well “I know, but what is more wrong is allowing the wicked to wreak havoc over the innocent, letting an on slaughtering happen and only for the government to brush it off to the side only because of the lack of evidence even though everyone knows that they were the ones who did the wicked crime, Light I have to say trust me, trust your older sister and let her protect you” I said in a low voice as if to sooth her
She was hesitant but she nods “okay, but I’m worried”
“Shhh” I said softly “Older sister will protect you, shhh” I then leaned her back in to bed “now rest, and your wound still yet needs to heal.”
She lies down and her eyes drooped, even though she had just awoken she needed plenty of rest in order to heal.
