*Just a short story* How They Changed
~3 days after she beat the game~WELL. It has been, what, 3 days since my encounter with that person who can somehow beat me? She's a stiff, that bunny. She cooks HORRIBLY, although I think she's doing that on purpose since I've seen her cooking right before I started to crash at her place. I'm even surprised at myself that I haven't killed her yet. That night when she beat me, she kept whimpering in her sleep. Maybe when I figure her fear, I can use that to haunt that forever in her dreams. Hey, what can you expect? Torturing people is a hobby of mine!
Sophie came out of the kitchen, placing a poorly made lasagna(if you can even call it that) right infront of me.
"Eat up, you have 10 minutes." She said in a monotone as she then walked off.
Did I mention how cruel she is? How can anyone eat that...THING in 10 minutes?! It's a good thing I'm a ghost, otherwise I might actually die from her cooking. It's no wonder she lives alone in an empty house. Although, it does kinda remind me of my creator's house....Nah. That's impossible. I looked up to see that 18 minutes had passed by. Guess she forgot about it...? Mostly she's on my case, the little [CENSORED]...I just threw the food abomination in the trash, walked to her room, and peeked over the doorway to see she was up to.
She's playing the game again?!
After SO many times she told me that my game was boring her to death, she's playing it now??
I lightly chuckled and looked at the screen- she was doing the usual gameplay, just letting Eggman fall into the destiny I had planned for him. Just like the usual ending, the screen would then blink into a red static and show the usual photo of me saying "I AM GOD". When it did though, instead of being creeped out and look behind her, she just stared at it and laughed a small bit, covering her mouth to hide her small smile. I heard her mumble-
"So that's what everyone was scared of...? He looks...rather cool though...."
A red blush quickly spread on my face and I quickly walked away, not loud enough for her to hear me. As soon as I reached the living room, I started to panic.
...What the hell was that?
What the hell was that about?!
That....was awfully weird, ESPECIALLY coming from her.
All the more, WHAT AM I DOING?
Usually, if I caught someone doing that, I would cut in the moment I see them.
And what's with this red stuff on my face?! This is entirely different from blood! Blush?!
No matter how many times I tried to calm myself down, the blush won't fade away. And what's worse is that I couldn't just go sleep on it since I'm supposed to be DEAD. I just walked back to her room and saw her asleep on her bed, not changed in her pajamas. She was clinging onto a photo. I slowly walked into the dark room and stood over her, grabbing the photo from her. Judging from how little she was in the photo, I'm guessing she was 10 when this was taken, which must've been 6 years ago. She was smiling happily, unlike now, where's she takes everything seriously like a total grouch. Just when I was about to rip it, I saw writing at the back. It must have been just now because the ink went onto my fingers. It said-
"Smiling now is a hassle. I can't change the past. It's better to not wear a mask just to hide it. I'd rather display my sorrow out in the open."
Well, that was depressing. But I wonder...what does she look like when she smiles? She never smiled genuinely, at least infront of people. I quickly glanced at her, and she had a really calm and lighthearted expression on her face, compared the expression she gives me when she sees me. It looked rather...cute.
WHAT THE [CENSORED] AM I SAYING EVEN NOW?
I put the photo between her arms and walked back into the living room, plopping on the couch, waiting for morning to come.
~4 days after she beat the game~
I woke up, the sunshine hitting my face and my old photo clutched in my arms. Oh. That's right. After I went through the game again, this photo just dropped out from one of my drawers in my desk. Really, to think I smiled that brightly when I was 10. I was only trying to sugarcoat it, but now I found it much to no avail. No matter what, that'll still be the same.
Once I got out of bed, I smelled pancakes- Wait, pancakes? Am I sure I got that right? No way can he-
"Oh, mornin'." He said as he was eating 2 pancakes.
With my usual monotonous voice, I then asked-
"....Where did you get the pancakes..."
"You don't think I cook? I cooked them myself! Seeing how much you suck..."
"Good. Saves me the trouble of cooking for you...."
"No no, you're still cooking for me for the rest of the day-"
"WHAT?"
My eyes widened a bit, surprised I even raised my voice like that. It's really rare for me to do so..
"Oh? Look, your cooking sucks as [CENSORED], but it's worth it~"
Okay. That does it.
"Well, it's worth it for me since I get to see your disgusted face every time I mess up on a dish! Literally, you actually ate my crazy dishes??"
He shrugged. "Whatcha expect? You think I would starve to death?"
"Aren't you already dead?"
"Well, yeah, but what did you think would happen if you kept serving me bad food?"
"I dunno- promote bad service??" I said rather sarcastically.
Instead of ignoring me though, he just gave a slight chuckle.
"Yeah yeah, for someone who has a hard time smiling, you do know how to make other people laugh..."
For once, I actually gained some respect for him...
~NOW~
"Say, remember the times when you used to give me horrible dishes?"
"Yeah yeah yeah, whatever, you still can't beat my cooking now anyway~" Sophie replied with a smirk.
"From the past? Yes, I can."
Sophie put a plate of pancakes infront of him, her hands on her hips with a playful smile on her face.
"And what about now, "Master" Chef?~"
Sonic.EXE took a bite out of the pancakes and then gently smiled at her.
"Never in a million years."
