Choices (Whisper)

February 13th, 2021

Watching as the late morning sun rises my eyes watch without care as the young fox mourns over her now dead father I stay silent. "No dad, what happened to you? What happened to all of you?" Cinders cries staring horrifically at the empty remains of deactivated animatronics. I look away seemingly in way guilty since they have become phantoms but I of course stole their memories then hiding them in a secret compartment that only I know of I walk towards the mourning Cinder placing a hand on her shoulder "Now don't cry my dear it's how it all goes and don't be upset for you see he is not completely gone"  I say walking down the hallway she gets up looking over to me with drips of oily tears falling off the end of her face "What do you mean?" Cinder questions I walk to her gingerly holding a hand out "Follow me and I'll show you" at first she was hesitant staring at my hand thinking I would harm her but I had to win her trust if she is gonna have to stay with me "I'd rather not, but I guess if I have no choice" The white fox takes my hand I start leading her throughout the building until we reach the entertainment stage. Cinder stares at the stage confused "Why did you bring me here?" I respond "To show you that your father and mother are still alive but..." I began til Cinder interrupts "But what?" She asked I point a grey finger towards a hanging mangled up animatronic who's eyes glowed white and body faded black stains it was Mangle and beside him a torn up black stained chicken animatronic known to be Chi. Both animatronics stood a distance from each other not even having any contact with each other they remained where they were not moving only to be surprised by me and Cinder's presence they shriek and disappear; Cinder not knowing how to react looks at me "What happened to them? How come once they saw me they just shrieked and vanished like I were some stranger?" I look the pirate fox into her one yellow eye and sigh "After animatronics die their souls become phantoms who get guided to a place where they can be free but something went wrong as the souls of them broke free they all started forgetting" "Forgetting?" I nod "Yes, forgetting who they are and where they came from. They lost all memories and now are only roaming spirits of this now empty building where I now spend my years in ."
Cinder looked around sadly she sees more of the phantoms walking around mindlessly tears form once again falling down her cheeks "I don't believe it. I don't want to believe it" Cinder cried I look over at the sobbing fox who I remembered had agreed to become my wife as I stare at both rings on our hands I pat her back "Oh don't worry my love it's just how it is. Not everything can be how you want it to be" unexpectedly Cinder smacks my hand away growling "Get your hands off me! Even if I made a freaking deal with you to be your bride I can't stand being here around this place knowing my own family are phantoms who can't even remember anymore it hurts to feel forgotten and I don't want to feel like that just leave me alone!" Before I could respond Cinder had already gone running down the hallway and hiding within Pirate's Cove.

I sigh "She'll get over it. It's no big deal, just only been a night since I brought her. I must give it time and she'll come around she'll come around" those as i said this a seeping pain inside me known to be guilt swells up my stomach making me wonder: Is this even worth it?
