Chapter 22: good news and bad news
She didn't move after that day. We waited three days for something to happen. She moved every now and then but not much. She never woke up but some color was returning very slowly. It was so hard to see her every day but know she wasn't there. She didn't smile, she didn't laugh, she just lay there with her eyes closed. Later that day I was on my phone, checking up on Twitter.
"Hey Zaynie, we are going to get some food ok? You good to stay here for an hour or two?" asked Louis.
"Yeah. I'll let you know if anything happened." I said.
"No. You have to text me even if nothing happens, ok." I laughed but agreed. They were gone for 20 minutes when I found myself staring at her again. I was just staring but I was somewhere else. I didn't notice that I was looking in her eyes. I jumped out of my chair when I saw her big blue eyes staring at mine. She smiled. She was awake. I couldn't think. I smiled like an idiot and stood there. I didn't change position until a nurse walked in.
"Oh good your awake! Hi I'm your nurse, Sharon. I'll be back shortly." and she left the room. I pulled out my phone and called Harry who answered on the first ring.
"Hey what's up?" Harry asked.
"Nothing much. Just wish you were here." she said. I could hear him shout from where I was, "Guys, let's go back to the hospital, she's awake." I could hear them cheer and Harry tell her that they would be there soon. She hung up and gave the phone back to me. She smiled the whole time.
"I'm glad your awake!" I told her. She just nodded. "How much do you remember?" I asked.
"I was with Scott. There was pain and the blackness. Before that was the night before. I don't remember anything with Scott." She looked around. "What did happen?" she asked.
"Scott took you in the middle of the night. Louis found you in his house. A dresser was on top of you and there was blood all over. You've been out for four days." She looked startled.
"Where are my parents? I want to see them." This was the hardest part.
"Taylor. Hold my hand while I tell you this." She grabbed my extended hand. "Once we found you and got you to the hospital we went to get your parents but they weren't there. Someone burnt down your house and your family didn't make it out. I'm so sorry." I said. There were tears in her eyes now. I wrapped my arm around her but she didn't stop crying. I joined her. The guys walked in and I told them what happened. They were all hopeful smiles the whole time but she never stopped crying. I wish I could do something.
