A birds first nimble flight~chapter 1
Scrambling onto a branch, Reed looked around. "I can't fly!" The young kestrel protested. "Who cares?" Maggot, his careless sister, flew up, carefree in the breeze. Willows flew into the clouds, and Reed shrugged away his jealousy. "Since when was it that easy?" Shouted Jaguarleap at the innocent birdies. She turned to Reed. "Bald Eagles eat fish," She tweeted song-like. "So watch out." "They hang out at Bluefish Lake. And I miss Waterfall." "Your father put his death to a good use," pointed out Salamander. "But I,too, am grief-stricken." Reed turned to Salamander. "Can you fly?" "Yes," she admitted, "So I'm starting Flight School in two days." Reed sighed. he jumped, clumps of watermint and redfish skulls falling down on him. His wings felt heavy. He flapped them, and went a heartbeat before tumbling again. "Now," Maggot said. "How do you feel?" "Amazed and scared," chirped Reed. "Now, the bird who killed our father had a left black wing, spotted wing and raven's beak."
