What're You Hoping For? || A Zachary Sayle/Toursies Story

There aren't many (or any) Newsies stories on here, so I took the liberty of adding one that I've been working on for a while. It's a ship between my character, Faith Flaherty, and Zachary Sayle, who played Crutchie in the first North American tour of Newsies.

After Sky left to get water, everyone began to leave, until the only people left at the fire were me and Ben. Let’s just say, it was AWKWARD!!! Thanks a lot, Sky! And the rest of you, too!
“So . . ,” Ben started. I nodded. “U-um, t-tell me something a-about you.” I looked at him, heat running to my cheeks. He was looking away.
“U-uh, I sent in a-an application for Julliard before getting accepted to play Stat,” I said. He finally looked at me.
“R-really?” he asked. I nodded. “I-is there still a chance you could get accepted?” I shook my head.
“I sent them a letter that told them I got accepted for a roll on Broadway and would be touring for a while, but I might send in another application if I ever stop.” He nodded. We went for a minute without talking or looking each other.
“Faith,” he said at the same time I said, “Ben.”
“Y-you go first,” I said. He smiled.
“Faith, ever since we I met you and we danced together, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you. I looked for you at every performance, just ask Josh. I even got here at five forty-five every day before rehearsal just in case you ran at an unearthly hour again. I just . . . .” he trailed off.
“You just what?” I asked. He sighed.
“You know how . . . you meet this person, and they make you feel like you’ve never felt before?” I nodded. “That . . . .” Sigh. “That’s how I feel around you.” My breath caught in my throat. “And I know that you’re cautious because of what happened to you, and . . .” Another sigh. “I know I want to be with you, but if you’re not ready, I’ll wait.” I sighed, but smiled. What is he doing to me?

Ben’s P.O.V.
Where’s Sky?! I want to say something, but I don’t know what to say!! Do I leave?! No, that would be rude. Do I . . . . um.

Sky’s P.O.V.
I walked out to the fire after about fifteen minutes, water in hand. Truth be told, I had the water in my backpack. The same backpack I had on outside. When I walked out the door, Ben and Faith were talking. She saw me, and they immediately stopped.
“Hey, everyone said it was too cold outside, but that there was too much smoke with the fire, so they went inside,” I said. “Wanna go inside and hijack Josh’s room to watch a movie?” They looked at each other and shrugged.
“Sure,” they said at the same time. I shuddered.
“I don’t even want to know,” I told them.
“You do realize it’s my room, too, right?” Ben asked. I nodded. We turned the fire off and walked inside and to the elevator. I looked at Faith.
“I get stairs!” she exclaimed with a smirk. I smirked with her.
“What’s happening here?” Ben asked. Faith looked at him.
“We need a favor,” she said. He nodded. “Go up to you guys’ floor and wait. Tell us when you get there, and watch the stairs and the elevator.” He looked skeptical, but nodded and got in the elevator. When the doors closed, I looked at her and nodded.
“Ben said he’s there, third floor,” Faith said.
“Okay,” I told her. “I hit this button,” I held my finger over the button on the wall, “and you can go.” She nodded. I hit the button to call the elevator, and she took off towards the stairwell. I waited for about twenty seconds before the doors opened and I could get in.

Faith’s P.O.V.
SO MANY STAIRS!!!!!!!!! I panted as I sprinted up the steps, tripping occasionally. Why did I choose to run up three flights of stairs again?!

Ben’s P.O.V.
I sat against the wall, on my phone, when the door to the stairwell flew open and a panting Faith came running out. Not two seconds later, the door to the elevator opened and Sky walked out.
        “I won,” he said.
“No,” Faith said, in between breaths, “I…won…ask…Ben.” They both looked at me. I smiled awkwardly.
“Well, Ben?” Sky said. “Who won?”
        “U-uh..,” I started. “I, uh…” I sighed. “Faith,” I mumbled.
        “Yes!” she exclaimed.
“No fair!” Sky exclaimed. “You’re being bias to your girlfriend!” My cheeks were a deep pink.
“Oi!” Faith exclaimed, slapping Sky on the back of the head. “That’s not funny, Blue!” I tilted my head in confusion.
        “Blue?” I asked.
“Sky,” she replied. “The sky is blue. I have many nicknames for this one.” I nodded.
        “Mind sharing?” I asked.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!” Sky yelled. Faith touched her ear and hissed in pain, looking over at him. “Ah, man. Sorry, Angel.” She nodded. “You can tell him your names for me, but at least wait until I’m up to Josh’s room.” We nodded and he walked down the hall.
“So, how many nicknames do you have for him?” I asked. She thought for a second.
“I don’t know how many I have, but I can think of Skybell, Skylar, Blue, Pink, and Icecream,” she said.
“Pink and Icecream?” I asked. She nodded.
“They came from the same event,” she told me. “We were at school when he was seventeen and I was fifteen, and we were sitting in lunch, and there was a food fight. We tried to stay out of it, but then strawberry ice cream landed on his head, thus giving me the potential nicknames, Pink and Icecream.” I laughed, and she did too.
“We should probably go to the room now,” I said, and she nodded before we started walking down the hall to room number three twenty-four.

I would use that--in fact I have unfinished stories on there under CrutchieMorris--but I can only access it on my kindle, on which the internet no longer works.
