What're You Hoping For? || A Zachary Sayle/Toursies Story

There aren't many (or any) Newsies stories on here, so I took the liberty of adding one that I've been working on for a while. It's a ship between my character, Faith Flaherty, and Zachary Sayle, who played Crutchie in the first North American tour of Newsies.

.:21:.         As we got in the car to go to the theatre, the things we had bought mainly consisted of a few Hot Topic bags. Needless to say, I had enjoyed this day more than any shopping day I’d ever done.
“So,” Zach said, “I heard your birthday is in less than a week.” I chuckled under my breath. Subtle.
“Sky told you?” I asked. He nodded. “Yes, it is in less than a week, and no, don’t you dare try to do anything special. Being on Broadway is enough of a birthday present for, let’s say, the rest of my life?” He shook his head.
“No, you got on Broadway because of talent,” he said. “Birthday presents are for being just there.” I smiled.
“Whatever you say.” As we pulled up in front of the theatre, we were the only ones there. We went inside and sat on the stage. “How early are we? I don’t feel like getting my phone out.” He smiled and looked at his watch.
“Four thirty,” he said. “We’re an hour early.” I sighed and fell back, laying flat on the stage.
“The others will prob’ly be here in about forty-five-ish minutes,” I said, “so what do we do in the meantime?” He shrugged. “Let’s go to the top of the towers.” I jumped up and ran up the stairs to the top of the middle tower and took a picture of the theatre (above).

I showed the post to Zach, and he laughed.
“Are you that bored?” he asked. I shrugged.
“I also just wanted to take a picture.” He smiled and sat down, his legs dangling over the edge of the tower. I sat down next to him and leaned my head on his shoulder. “Do you think Ben’s mad at me?” He sighed.
“I don’t know,” he replied. “I think that it’s your feelings, and I think he should respect that, but I can’t say what he’s thinking right now. What about you?” I looked up at him. “What are you thinking?” I shrugged.
“I’m thinking that it’s gonna be crazy at stagedoor tonight,” I said. “Imagine how they’ll react to us.” He chuckled.
“Yeah, that’s gonna be somethin’,” he said. I thought for a second.
“What if . . ,” I started. “What if they didn’t know?” He looked down at me.
“What do you mean?” he asked. I sat up.
“I mean, what if we didn’t tell anyone?” I asked. “Not forever, but if the fansies knew the people who play Crutchie and Stat in Newsies were dating in real life, what do you think they’d do?” He shrugged.
“You do make a good point,” he said, “but what about the Toursies? Would we tell them?” I shook my head.
“I mean, Ben and Sky already know, and Stephanie’s gonna figure it out even if I don’t tell her,” I said, “but have you ever tried to get Josh to keep a secret?” He shook his head. “I told him I had a sore throat one time and told him not to tell anyone because it wasn’t bad anymore.”
“One, when was this?” he asked. “And two, what happened?” I smiled.
“It was the day after I got here, and he didn’t last five minutes.” He nodded.
“Makes sense knowing Joshua,” he said. “But yeah. I think that’s probably a good idea. For a while, at least.” I nodded and stood up.
“I’m gonna warm up while I wait for responses to my question,” I said. Not five seconds after I started down the stairs, my phone went off, signaling that I had a response. “Or maybe I’m not. Wanna do some pranks with me?” He shrugged.
“What kind of pranks?” he asked. I showed him my phone.

        fansie_child- @faith.wraith @zsayle You should print
embarrassing pictures of the cast and tape them up around
        the theatre! nO mErCy
        user1- @faith.wraith @zsayle Or you could vandalize Sky’s
dressing room. Not his costumes tho he kinda needs those
user2- @faith.wraith @zsayle Yeah! You could draw on his
         mirror!
faith.wraith- @user2 draw what and what with?
zsayle- @user2 yeah that might be a good thing
to know and I don’t have an imagination
MyLittleFansie- @faith.wraith @zsayle you should cover his
        entire mirror in lipstick!

        I looked up at Zach.
“Wouldn’t that take a while?” he asked. I thought about it.
“Well, if we did the other one first,” I said, “we could at least be assured that we get one of them done.” He nodded. “We should only put up pictures of people we really want to prank, that way if we start a prank war, we’ll still have allies.” He nodded. “So, you should we do? Other than Sky, I mean.”
“Oh, yeah, ‘cause we obviously have to prank Sky,” he said. “Uh, Josh and Stephanie. Oh! No, wait, nevermind.”
“Who were you thinking?” I asked. He shook his head. “Zach.”
“Fine, I was thinking Ben,” he said, “but then I remembered, so, uh . . . what about Dan?” I nodded enthusiastically.
“We should definitely do Dan,” I said. “Do we have anything on Jeff Heimbrock?” He thought for a second.
“I think I have some great pictures of Jeff,” he said. “What about Vincent?” I shook my head.
“We’re not doing Vincent. I want him on our side,” I said. “Anthony?” He nodded. “I’ve got good pictures of Sky, Josh, Stephanie, and Anthony.” He nodded.
“I’ve got some good pictures of Sky, Josh, Dan, and Jeff,” he said. “Shall we compare?” I nodded.

I would use that--in fact I have unfinished stories on there under CrutchieMorris--but I can only access it on my kindle, on which the internet no longer works.
