Zach’s P.O.V.After a while, Faith fell asleep, and I walked out to the living room, where Sky was. He was laying on the couch, looking at his phone intently. When he saw me walk in, he jumped off the couch, grabbed me, and sat me down.
“What’s happening?” I asked. “I’m not getting the ‘Big Brother Sky’ talk, am I?” He shook his head.
“Faith’s birthday is next Friday,” he said, “and I need your help with an idea I had for a birthday present.” I nodded.
“Ok,” I said. “Well, what’s the idea?” He smiled and sat down, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“So, my idea is this . . .” He stopped. I glared at him. “Video compilation.” I thought about it.
“Ok,” I said. “I tried to think of what you might want to record, but it’s too early, and I came up with nothing. Please explain.” He nodded.
“Faith has been going through . . . a rough time,” he pointed towards her room, “and I heard you telling her not to shut everyone out again, that we were all here for her, and I thought, ‘Why not prove that to her and remind her that everyone in this cast loves her?’” I nodded. “So what do you think?” I thought it over for a second.
“I mean . . .” I paused. “I think that’s . . . actually a really good idea!” He smiled. “And yes, part of that is just because it was based off of something I said, but I do actually think it is a good idea.” He nodded. “So what do you need me to do?”
Ben’s P.O.V.
As I lay on my bed, staring at the same spot on the ceiling, Josh tried to cheer me up.
“Come on, Ben!” he said. “We don’t have a rehearsal today, just the show, and it’s early! Why don’t we have a guys’ day? We could pick up Sky and Zach--no, not Zach--just Sky, and we could . . . go see a movie!” I shook my head.
“Last time we tried to have a guys’ day, we ran into Faith and Stephanie,” I said. “I don’t trust that it won’t happen again.” He sighed and shook his head.
“I don’t know what to tell ya’, Benji,” he said. “I’ve been trying for hours. It’s like you’re purposefully trying not to be cheered up!” I shrugged.
“I just want to wallow in my sorrows for a while,” I said. “Is that so much to ask?” He groaned.
“Well, have fun with that,” he said. “I’m gonna go find some actual fun people.” He walked away and I heard the door close. Well, maybe a nap would do me some good.
Sky’s P.O.V.
As I finished recording Zach’s video, there was a knock on the door. I nodded my head towards the door, gesturing for Zach to open it since I was still downloading the video onto my computer.
“Hey, Josh,” Zach said. I looked back over at the door. Sure enough, Josh was standing there, bacon patterned shirt and all.
“Hey!” I exclaimed, smiling. “You just saved me either a text or sending Zach to the hotel to find someone.” He looked confused.
“I’m gonna skip the trying to understand part and skip to the you explaining part,” he said. I nodded.
“Listening to Zach give Faith a pep talk last night--or this morning technically-”
“Wait, why was Zach giving Faith a pep talk?”
“I’m standing right here, you know.” We looked at Zach, then back at each other.
“Well, something happened with Ben and it really made Faith upset, but when you think about it from his point of view, Ben had an okay point, I mean-”
“Sky!” Zach cut in. I nodded. “Faith was really upset. She didn’t answer any of my texts over the span of an hour, and when I got here, she had shut herself in her room, so we talked, and I told her not to shut everyone out again and that we were all here for her. After hearing that, Sky had a brilliant idea for her birthday next week, which I will let him explain.” Josh nodded.
“Two things,” he said. “One: Did you just say ‘a brilliant idea?’” Zach nodded. “You are picking up on each others’ speech patterns. Ok, and two: Her birthday is next week?” I nodded.
“December 19, 1997,” I said. “She turns seventeen next Friday.” He nodded, then doubled back.
“Hol’ up, she’s only a week younger than Benji?” I nodded. “That’s hilarious.”
“Okay, well what do you think of this?” I asked. “We ask people what they love about Faith, and we record them, put it all into one video, and show it to Faith on Friday.” He thought for a second.
“That’s a really good idea, guys!” he exclaimed. I smiled and turned to Zach.
“Okay, now Zach?” He looked at me. “Now that we have your video recorded, I need you to stay here and keep Faith occupied so there’s no chance she’ll see what we’re up to.” He nodded and I turned back to Josh. “Where do you want to go to record this?” He thought.
“My room,” he said. I nodded at Zach, and we started walking down the stairs to Josh’s car.
“Hotel room?” I asked. He nodded. “Why there?”
“Well, that’s where we really all first had a good time together,” he said. “You, me, Faith, Zach, and Ben.” He sighed. “Based on what you said, I don’t know if it’ll ever be like that again.” I nodded. “Ben hasn’t done anything but lay on his bed and stare at the ceiling since we got back from the theatre.” He stopped. “Oh no.” I frowned.
“Oh no?” I asked. “I don’t like ‘oh no’. ‘Oh no’ is never good.” He nodded. “Josh, just tell me what’s ‘oh no!’”
“Ben’s still in our room!” he exclaimed. I frowned.
“Well,” I said, “that ruins that plan.” He nodded. “What if . . . we ask him if he can go get coffee while he’s out on a walk, to give him something to do? Maybe that would work.” He nodded again.
