What're You Hoping For? || A Zachary Sayle/Toursies Story

There aren't many (or any) Newsies stories on here, so I took the liberty of adding one that I've been working on for a while. It's a ship between my character, Faith Flaherty, and Zachary Sayle, who played Crutchie in the first North American tour of Newsies.

Me and Zach walked upstairs and in the door of the first dance studio. There were multicolored lights strung around the edges of the room, and it was full of people.
“There you are!” I heard. I looked to out left. Standing by the edge of the doorway was none other than Skyler Flaherty. I smacked him on the shoulder. “Ow!” He rubbed his shoulder. “What was that for?”
“That was for not telling us where everyone was!” I exclaimed. He smirked. “Should I be scared?” He nodded.
        “Yes,” he replied. Zach chuckled.
“I’m getting a major sense of déjà vu right now,” he said. I shrugged. Sky grabbed my arm.
“Come with me,” he whispered in my ear. He pulled on my arm and led me out into the hall and into another studio. He turned the lights on and sat me on a bench. He then sat across from me, smiling. “So?” I smiled.
“He kissed me,” I told him. His face lit up.
“And, did you kiss him back?” he asked. I pretended to be disappointed. “Aw, Faith.” I smiled.
“Of course I kissed him back, you idiot!” I said. “Didn’t I just say earlier that I didn’t think he liked me? Why would I ask that if I didn’t think I liked him?” He shrugged.
“But are you dating?” he asked. I smirked.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” I stood up and ran to the other studio and into the crowd. I knew he was following me, but I didn’t care. I had to find Zach. I found him at a table with Ben, Josh, Jacob, and Dan. I grabbed his arm and pulled him away, ignoring the looks I got from the boys.
“Is everything okay?” Zach asked. I nodded.
“I just wanted to say, don’t tell Sky we’re dating,” I said. “I’m getting back at him for meddling in my love life, no matter how well it turned out.” He smiled and nodded. I kissed him on the cheek. “Thanks!” I walked away and decided to find Steph. At some point, I gave up and walked out onto the balcony. I don’t know how long I was out there.
“You okay?” I heard. Oh, crap. I turned around. Yep. It was Ben. This was not a conversation I wanted to have right now, but it was inevitable. “You don’t look too excited for someone who just made her Broadway debut.” I smiled slightly.
“Just . . . not a crowd person,” I said. It was true, but that wasn’t why I was out here. “They make me uncomfortable, even if I know everyone in it.” He nodded and walked over to the rail next to me.
“Why were you and Zach late?” he asked. I tensed up. I knew he was gonna ask, but I was hoping he wouldn’t. “You were the only two we were waiting for.” I nodded.
“I, uh . . . we . . . I was waiting on Stephanie in my dressing room . . . it was after ten . . . I, uh, I went to find someone, but there was no one there, but I found Zach, a-a-and we didn’t know where anyone was!” I stuttered out. He smirked.
“You’re a terrible liar, Faith,” he said.
“That’s good,” I replied. I couldn’t resist the quote. He chuckled.
“Wow,” he muttered. “How did I not see that coming?” I shrugged. “Look . . . whatever it is, you can tell me. I promise.” I sighed, and he placed a hand on my shoulder. I looked back up at him. “Just trust me.” My eyes watered up.
        “I . . ,” I started. “I-I . . . I can’t.” I looked down. Ben sighed.
“It’s Zach, isn’t it?” he asked, quietly. I opened my mouth to say something, but just nodded. “That’s why you were late?” I nodded again, and he sighed. “I knew it,” he whispered.
“I-I-I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I . . . I-I need to go.” I turned around and ran into the room, ignoring his calls after me. I looked for Sky and found him in the corner--as per usual--with Josh, Chaz, and . . . oh no.
“Sky!” I exclaimed. He looked at me and walked over.
“What is it?” he asked with a worried tone.
“C-can we go?” I asked with a shaky voice. He nodded, and we walked downstairs and to his car. I thought I vaguely heard Ben calling after me, but I didn’t look back to check.

I would use that--in fact I have unfinished stories on there under CrutchieMorris--but I can only access it on my kindle, on which the internet no longer works.
