What're You Hoping For? || A Zachary Sayle/Toursies Story

There aren't many (or any) Newsies stories on here, so I took the liberty of adding one that I've been working on for a while. It's a ship between my character, Faith Flaherty, and Zachary Sayle, who played Crutchie in the first North American tour of Newsies.

As we walked back to our dressing rooms, I was still crying. I walked in the door to my dressing and was immediately welcomed by a hug from Stephanie.
“Faith!” she exclaimed. “Welcome to the Broadway family!” She let go and backed away. “How does it feel?” I shrugged.
“I was fine until Sky gave that speech,” I said. “That’s when I really fell apart. I’ve never been so emotional onstage in my life!” She paused.
“Didn’t you play TiMoune in seventh grade?” she asked. I nodded. “Not even then?” I shook my head.
“No amount of being rejected by my true love and then dying could ever amount to this.” She nodded her head. She gasped. “What?”
“You can officially stagedoor now!!” she exclaimed. I groaned.
“Can you not?” I asked, falling into my chair. She laughed.
“So I see you are already learned in the area of the stagedoor.” I nodded. “Well, I guess we probably shouldn’t use all your energy up on your first day of Broadway.” I threw my hands into the air. “Hey, I’m gonna go talk to Meredith for a minute.” I nodded, not looking away from a very interesting spot on the ceiling. I don’t know how long I sat there, but eventually I figured I should change out of my dirty, sweaty costume, so I changed into some ripped denim skinny jeans, a S.T.A.R. Labs t-shirt, a blue and white flannel, and my blue hightop converse. I looked at my phone. It was 10:37, and Stephanie was still talking to Meredith? I walked out of my dressing room. There was no one there!
I walked to the wings. No one. The boys’ dressing room. No one. The lobby. Nada. I sighed. Suddenly I heard music coming from the stage. I walked in the auditorium doors and saw Zach standing onstage.
“Zach?” I said. What was he doing? I looked at what he had in his hand. It was a microphone. He held it up and started singing Distance by Christina Perri.

The sun is filling up the room,
And I can hear you dreaming.
Do you feel the way I do, right now?

I wish we would just give up,
'Cause the best part is falling.
Calling anything but love.

And I will make sure to keep my distance,
Say I love you when you're not listening,
How long, can we keep this up, up, up?

Please don't stand so close to me
I'm having trouble breathing.
I'm afraid of what you'll see, right now.

I'll give you everything I am,
All my broken heartbeats.
Until I know you'll understand.

And I will make sure to keep my distance,
Say I love you when you're not listening,
How long, can we keep this up, up, up?

And I keep waiting
For you to take me
And you keep waiting
To save what we had

So I'll make sure to keep my distance,
Say I love you when you're not listening,
How long, can we keep this up, up, up?

Make sure to keep my distance,
Say I love you when you're not listening,
How long, 'til we call this love, love, love?

By the time he stopped singing, I was onstage next to him with tears in my eyes. I smiled.
“What is this all about?” I asked. He smiled.
“This is what I was so nervous about earlier,” he said. “I wanted to tell you how I felt, but I’ve never been good with words, and when I said that I wished I was as good at talking as everyone said I am at singing, it clicked that that was what I should do, so I worked on this song for the past week, always intending to sing it tonight.” I smiled. He grabbed my hand. “This is what I wanted to say.” I stared at him. We were inches apart. Less than that. One inch. Nothing. His lips were on mine, and I didn’t care. I kissed him back!
A thought popped into my head and I pulled back.
“What is it?” Zach asked. I smirked.
“Sky told you to sing, didn’t he?” I asked. He looked at the floor and nodded. I smiled. “I’ll be right back.” I turned around and started walking off to find Sky.
        “SKYLER!!!!!!!!”

I would use that--in fact I have unfinished stories on there under CrutchieMorris--but I can only access it on my kindle, on which the internet no longer works.
