What're You Hoping For? || A Zachary Sayle/Toursies Story

There aren't many (or any) Newsies stories on here, so I took the liberty of adding one that I've been working on for a while. It's a ship between my character, Faith Flaherty, and Zachary Sayle, who played Crutchie in the first North American tour of Newsies.

After Ben and Faith fell asleep--on top of each other, may I add--I paused the movie so Faith wouldn’t attack me when she woke up, but I didn’t know what else to watch, so I just sat there, staring intently at the black TV screen.
“Whatcha thinkin’ about?” I heard. I looked to my left and saw Zach sitting in the floor between the beds, leaning back on the side table. I shrugged my shoulders and looked at Faith and Ben. “You’re worried, aren’t you?” I sighed and nodded my head.
“She’s literally only ever had one boyfriend,” I said, living back to my junior year of high school. “That ended so bad. She couldn’t even break up with him herself because she knew she would fall apart.” I sighed. “She tried to pretend she hated him, that she was always annoyed with him, but in truth, she missed being friends with him.” I feel my face heating up and my eyes watering.
“And you’re scared that’s gonna happen again?” I nodded. Zach sighed. “Look, Sky. We both know Ben, you more than me! If I can trust that it won’t be like that… why can’t you?” I opened my mouth to answer, but no words came out. “Exactly. So here’s how it goes-”
“Please, don’t,” I said, not wanting Faith to wake up and start singing Newsies with Zach.
“But I’m serious!” he said. “You need to trust them both. You’ve known Faith for almost your whole life, and you’ve known Ben for how long?”
“Little over a year.” He nodded and I sighed. “You’re right, as always, Oh Wise One. I do trust them, and if she’s happy, I’m happy.” He smiled and looked at Faith.
“Me too.” He sighed and I smirked.
“What’s that look for?” I asked. He jerked his head up.
“Whatlook?Thislook?Thislookisnothing!I’mgonnastoptalkingnow.” I smiled and nodded, hopping off the bed and sitting next to him on the floor. I looked forward.
“You like Faith,” I said, after a minute. He looked at me.
        “W-what?!” he exclaimed, quietly. “N-no I-I-I don’t!” I chuckled.
        “Keep tellin’ that to yourself.”

Faith’s P.O.V.
When I woke up, I was leaning on Ben’s shoulder. I looked around. I was still in Josh’s room, and I was the only one up. I pulled out my phone and texted Stephanie.

Faith 1st

Which room is yours?

Why are you up at five o’clock?

I just woke up and I’m in a room full of boys. HALP!!

                Room 402

Thank you!

I walked over to the desk and picked up the notepad. I pulled a pen out of my pocket (don’t ask why) and wrote:

Boys, I woke up before the rest of you and didn’t want to be
in a room full of sleeping boys. I walked up to Stephanie’s room,
and if we’re not there, don’t freak out. Just call me. I know all of
                                                                                you have my number. ;)
                                                                                                                                                  -Faith

I walked out the door, closing it quietly, and walked up the stairs to room 402 and knocked on the door. Stephanie opened it and smiled.
“Hi, Faith! Come on! We can have a very short girls’ day, unless you maybe want to just have one all day?” She smiled. I sighed, sitting down on one of the beds.
“I have my first rehearsal today, Steph!” She frowned playfully. “But it’s not until three o’clock!” She smiled and clapped her hands.
“So, what should we do?” she asked. I shrugged.
“Well, I would say we should get our nails done if I wasn’t gonna play a dirty ol’ newsie, but we can’t!” I said. “We could however watch a movie and then maybe go shopping and just stay away from the boys for the day.” She nodded.
“That,” she said. “Let’s definitely do that.” I laughed. “What movie though?” I shrugged.
“Well, literally all I watch is musicals, so definitely one of those,” I said, smiling. “Hairspray?”
        “Sure!”

Close to the end of Hairspray (just before Without Love, to be exact), me and Stephanie heard a knock at the door.
“Who is it?!” we yelled at the same time.
“The Child, the Smoker, and the Cripple!!” we heard. We laughed and got up to walk to the door. I opened it.
        “Hi, Dad!” I exclaimed, smiling.
“Oh, yeah,” Sky said, “just don’t even acknowledge your brother or boyfriend.” My cheeks flushed a pale pink.
“What do you want, Ice Cream?!” I asked. Zach snickered.
“Icecream?” he asked. I looked at Sky.
“Shall I explain?” He shook his head violently.
“N-no! We were just wondering if you’d maybe want to go see a movie with us,” he said. I shook my head and stepped to the side so they could see the TV.
“As you can see,” I started, “we’re one step ahead of you. Me and Steph are having a girls’ day, so NO BOYS ALLOWED!!!” Zach laughed.
“Does that mean I can come?” he asked. I shrugged.
“I mean, you’re close enough,” Stephanie said. Everyone laughed. Zachary began to walk forward, but Ben and Sky each grabbed one of Zach’s shoulders and pulled him back.
        “Nuh uh, Zachary,” Sky said.
“Yeah, if these girls are having a girls’ day, we’re gonna have a guys’ day,” Ben said, and they walked away. I looked at Steph.
“Finish the movie?” she asked. I nodded. We laid down on the bed, but didn’t start the movie. She looked at me. “Are they really gonna go through with that?” I scoffed.
        “No.”

I would use that--in fact I have unfinished stories on there under CrutchieMorris--but I can only access it on my kindle, on which the internet no longer works.
