Gyms and Teams

Gyms and Teams
Once you reach Level 5, you may take part in gym battles, but first, you must choose a team

-Teams-
There are Three teams in Pokemon Go!, Team Valor, Mystic, and Instinct. Each team is represented by a legendary bird pokemon, and the choice really depends on you. Although you should just go and have fun with your friends on this, and no team is truly better than the others, if you really wish to know what team you would probably prefer, take this quiz: (Note: Teams may not be changed once chosen, choose carefully)

Gyms
Once you've joined a team, you may take part in gym battle. Gym battles have two types: Training and Challenges. Gyms can be found at landmarks and churches, such as Poke-stops, but they may be claimed by each team. If the gym is claimed by your team, you may train at it to gain XP. If it is claimed by a rival team, you may challenge it. If you manage to knock out every pokemon in the rival gym, you may claim it as your own.

        -Battling-
If you challenge a gym or go into training, you will enter a battle with the pokemon somebody has left behind. you pokemon has two moves; a normal and a special. To fight, tap the enemy pokemon, tap for a normal attack, and once the bar in the upper-left corner charges, hold down for a special attack, though specials should be saved to finish off an opponent as the leave your pokemon open to attack. swipe left and right to dodge attacks.
        -Types-
Types play an important role in battling pokemon, certain types are stronger or weaker to others. water is strong than fire, grass is weak to fire, etc. The type of pokemon doesnt matter as much as the type of attack it is using, the type of your pokemon currently only matters on the type of the opposing pokemon. your pokemon has two attacks that may be viewed under their stats. these attacks will have a type under them. here is a chart to help with type match-ups

        -Items-
You will have accumulated several items from poke-stops after a while of playing. Items such as Revives, Potions, etc. may be used to restore health to pokemon and revive fainted ones.
        -Cp-
Remember in chapter one when i mentioned a pokemon's "CP level"? that stands for "Combat power." and is used to judge the strength of a pokemon and how it will fair in battle. there are two ways to increase a Pokemon's CP
                -Upgrading-
You can use Stardust (Collected by hatching eggs, catching pokemon, capturing gyms, Etc.) and the candy of each pokemon's respective evolution chain to get more CP for your pokemon. So you would power up a Beedrill with Weedle candies and so on. You collect types of candy by catching pokemon of the same type and family, so you cant evolve a pikachu with scyther candy, and so on. But this will gain power to your pokemon  so they will do better in battle.
                -Evolving-
By collecting enough candy of a pokemon, you can evolve it and it may gain a bit of CP.

Well, that's it for now, i need to do more research on the following topics so they may be added into future chapters. those who help with this guide will be noted and given credit for anything they can help with.
