Everybody Makes Mistakes
Jamie awoke on a sunny morning. One thing was different from the nights before.Finnick lay beside her in bed.And then the night before came back to her in a rush. She quietly climbed out of bed and rushed out of Victor's Village."I don't love him...or do I?"Jamie thought to herself as she made her way up to a friendly 'doctors' house."Jamie!"Ella, the doctor, greeted as she walked in."Hey Ella.I need a test done."Jamie said.Ella didn't look too happy about this."What kind...DNA?"Ella asked uncertainly."No.A pregnancy test. And anyway I don't think doctors give DNA tests."Jamie answered.Ella set to work.An hour later,Ella looked up.«Positive!»Ella said.Jamie looked up from her pacing and almost fainted."Thanks Ella."Jamie answered."So...who's the father?"Ella asked eagerly.Jamie picked up a book that was on the table."Finnick Odair."Jamie said casually as if they were simply discussing the weather.Ella gaped."Does he know?"She asked excitedly.Jamie shook her head."No.And I don't plan on telling him."Jamie said flatly as she left the small house.9 months later, the baby was born.It was a boy.Jamie was thrilled but whenever she looked into the babies face she saw Finnick."I really do have feelings for him.I'm angry that I didn't realize them before."Jamie told the baby. The next day,Jamie found herself at Victor's Village holding her son.She knocked at Finnicks door."Hello?"Finnick called just as he had done the night Jamie had first arrived."Finnick!I have a son."Jamie cried as soon as he opened the door.Finnick was suddenly angry. That should be his child. Not anyone elses."Who's is it?"Finnick asked her icily."Yours,Finnick.Ours."Jamie whispered. It was barely audible but Finnick caught it."Seriously? Are you messing with me?"Finnick asked.Jamie shook her head. Then,he invited her inside."When I woke up and you were gone...I knew I broke that special thing we had going on.I was heartbroken. And then you didn't come back for,like,9 months.I had nearly forgotten you. It's all my fault."Finnick told her as they sat on the couch after setting Hunter (the baby) upstairs."No.Finnick you didn't do anything. It was me.But everybody makes mistakes."Jamie explained to him."Well then...this was the best mistake ever."Finnick said with a goofy grin on his face.Jamie laughed. He was right, though. This was one of the best mistakes ever.
