Chapter 4: Truths, Lies, and Prophecies

The moment the guy left Jazmyne fell to the floor. Richard ran to her and he was shaking her. I walked over and she looked completely sick. He said, “Sis, come on wake up.” Thanatos walked over and knelt down beside him and said, “Is there anything we can do?” He shook his head and shook her again this time her eyes fluttered open and she looked at him and said weakly, “Stop shaking me, I’m still here.” He said, “Yeah, but for how long? Do you know how scary that was? You have got to stop being stubborn and please do this one thing for me?” She sighed and said, “Richard, The risk of imprinting is…” “A chance we’ll have to take.” Richard broke in. I looked from Richard to Jazmyne and said, “What are you two fussing about?” They looked at me and he said, “My sister is being stubborn. Our blood after a while becomes tainted. We’re not completely human so we need human blood to survive. The more tainted our blood is the longer it takes us to get our full strength back.

“My sister’s blood’s been tainted for weeks but she refuses to drink from David because just like with vampyres we can imprint.” She signaled for him to shut up and then she stood up. “Richard the answer is still no.” Then she left out the building. I didn’t have to look for my group as I walked out behind her I knew they were behind me. The moment we got back to the depot she turned to Richard, who’d come behind us and said, “Where’s David?” Richard smiled and said for her to wait a minute. The he came back with David and David said, “Well, Well, Well, it’s about time…” He broke off as she grabbed his wrist. The moment her teeth broke through his skin, his face change from annoyed to Pleasure. I knew immediately she and he were imprinted. A moment later, Richard came in with a glass of red wine. He walked over and pulled David’s arm out of her grasp. She growled at him and David growled as well. The moment Richard looked over to say “what the hell” to David, she grabbed at his wrist again. I had to step in and help Richard out. I moved David’s wrist and took the wine from Richard. I looked at her and said, “You’re had enough from David, drink this now!” She was shaking as she took the wine.

She was gulping the wine as Richard licked David’s wrist to close the marks. I saw his eyes widen in surprise and knew I was right. David said, “Its true isn’t it?” Richard nodded and said, “Yep, its official.” Jazmyne said, “Richard, I don’t like how you put our business out there. Neferet is not on our side and neither is most of the school.” Before I could speak a voice came from behind us. “We’re still on Nyx’s side which means we’re on your side.” We looked back and saw Thanatos and Lenobia. Jazmyne said, “I wasn’t talking about you two I was talking some of the others. Anyway, Richard, now David’s in as much danger as I am. You are going to have to…” “Oh hell no…” David said before she could finish. “David you want to help me. By doing this you’re helping me with more than just your blood. You are going to try to find me thanks to our imprint. Now I could break it but I don’t have time for the pain that comes from a broken imprint. I need you to stay well so I can focus on saving the world from my enemies. So take him to the place and tie him down. Then go up north and prevent Calvin from breaking our truces. While you do that I will see if I can see anything that will need to be prevented in the next two weeks.” I said, “Wow, Richard, is she always bossing you around or is she just doing this now?” He said, “She has more info than I do thanks to her visions. I go along with it because I trust her instincts.”

Aphrodite said, “She has visions?” “Hey, I’m right here you can talk to me.” She said staring at Aphrodite. Aphrodite said, “Yeah but you’re drunk…” At that moment her entire body seized up and her eyes rolled back in her head. Just like that she went from criticizing Jazmyne to being barely alive. I walked over to her and said, “Aphrodite, what are you seeing?” Aphrodite didn’t speak but grabbed my hand. “I’m not going anywhere just tell me.” I told her. I saw Jazmyne shiver and Richard grabbed her as she blinked quickly and then her eyes became unfocused. Richard said, “Really? Both at the same time, this isn’t cool sis. Sis, I know you can hear me speak!” All of a sudden, Jazmyne fainted into Richard’s arms as Aphrodite came back around.

Aphrodite opened her eyes and groaned closing them back. Stark handed me a wet towel and I said, “Keep your eyes close and I’m put this towel over them.” She nodded and I placed the towel over her eyes. She said, “Jazmyne, Whatever you are, don’t get the rest of us killed. Jazmyne?” She sat up and pulled the towel off and looked at Jazmyne just as Richard said, “Sis, I know you can hear me come back to me.” Jazmyne was still slumped in Richard’s arms. Thanatos said, “What’s wrong with her?” Richard said, “My sister is on a thin line between life and death at all times. The visions take her closer to that death line and she’s even crossed it from time to time which is not fun. Tonight the moon’s new and the line is at its thinnest.

“I prefer her visions at any time other than the new moon but of course she doesn’t always choose when she has them. She wasn’t trying to get anyone hurt but the white bull shouldn’t be able to roam between realms. Because the bull can roam, it takes her closer to that already thin line.” At that moment she inhaled quickly and opened her eyes. “Sis, what did you see?” She looked at Aphrodite and said, “What did you see?” Richard said, “I asked you first! What did you see?”

She turned and said, “Fire and ice a paradox like a double-sided sword
One side destroys the other releases
To live one must die
To create one must destroy
Three worlds become one
Humanity saves her will she save me?”

Richard looked at her and said, “Uh?” I laughed and said, “Her vision was a prophetic poem.” The boy looked at her and said, “Oh, I know that, it’s just she passed out. This isn’t her first one but this is the first time she has passed out from a prophecy.” Jazmyne looked at Aphrodite and said, “What warning did you see?” Before Aphrodite could speak Kramisha walked in with a piece of paper. She handed it to me and all of my friends looked at me begging so I read it out loud.
“Paradoxes are like
Double edged swords
Fire and Ice
To destroy one must create
In the world where Good and Evil
Are fighting remember my child
Humanity and love is always the answer.”

I looked up to find everyone staring at me and then Jazmyne said what we all were thinking. “That’s sounds strangely like the poem I was given. I think I’m being warned about someone.” Richard said, “Do you think he would try?” Jazmyne looked at him and said, “He had nerve to want me dead before why not now?” Before I could say anything David said, “I think it would help if you told us who you’re talking about.” She turned and looked at him and said, “No matter what you hear from this moment forth know this, my heart, mind, body and soul belong to you and only you. I love you way more than I should. Things are going to try to rip us apart but I need you to stand by my side.” Thanatos said, “Aphrodite, What did you see?” Aphrodite said, “I saw that Angel again but this time the Angel was fighting what looked like another angel. She said something about a sister that made the wrong choice.”
