Chapter 2: The Truth about Jazmyne

I didn’t lie I was pleased to be at the House of night but I knew I would stick out like a cat at bulldog party. I mean according to everyone else I was human in a school for vampyres. What the others didn’t know was just how far from human I was. I was older than the vampyres and wiser than most of them. I was immortal. I was given a shell that can die but my soul never dies. I’ve had three shells in my life meaning I was sent to earth three times. I’m an angel. That’s right you know the thing that is supposed to watch over human yeah that thing I’m that. My mother is Gabrielle also known as the Untaintable One and my father Michael the Pure of Heart.

My angel name is Amelia, the Forgiving angel. Richard is my actual brother. His angel name is Steven the Protector. I can remember most of everything but there are a few ancient spells that I don’t remember yet but I will. The beginning of each new shell, I only have human memories. By the time I turn eleven my angel memories from my other lives as well as my angel life start to return. My memories do that because it’s too dangerous for me to remember everything before I’m ready to remember. I can also read most people’s minds. I didn’t have to read Zoey mind to know that Neferet had gone immortal. One immortal always knows another immortal. I also knew about everything about Zoey’s entire group. I knew Damien was gay and had just lost his partner Jack. I also knew he had an affinity for air.

I knew Shaunee and Erin were formerly known as Twins. They’d been marked on the same day and Shaunee has an affinity for fire while Erin has one for water. So when Erik and Thanatos offered me to ride in the car behind the bus so they could catch me up on the things going on, it was pointless but I agreed.

Erik started with, “Don’t trust Neferet! She is not what she appears to be. Zoey’s marks are added to even though she’s still a fledgling. She has an affinity for all five elements. She just lost her human consort and her mother. Stark, the red vampyre is her Guardian Warrior.” Then Thanatos said, “The red fledglings and vampyres will burn up when exposed to direct sunlight, they bite, they prefer to sleep in the earth and they have to have more blood to blue vampyres and fledglings. All of them with the exception of Shaylin, they were blue fledglings who supposedly rejected the change but were somehow revived. In other words they died and then undied. Is there anything I’m forgetting? Oh, Rephaim, Stevie Rae’s consort, is a human during the night but during the day he’s a bird.”

By this time we’d gotten to the depot so I climb out of the car and followed Zoey and the others underground. Erik and Thanatos went back to the house of night. Zoey was like, “Okay, everyone let’s gather in the kitchen, Jazmyne is new here so we should do introductions.” The moment everyone sat down she started the introductions. “I’m Zoey Redbird. This is my Guardian Warrior Stark.” She said pointing to the red vamp beside her. “The gift the Goddess gave his is the inability to miss whatever he shoots at. This is Stevie Rae Johnson.” She pointed to another red vampyre. “She has an affinity for earth. Rephaim is her consort. The girl that doesn’t have a mark is Aphrodite. In spite of her name, she’s not always very nice.

“But her gift from the Goddess is the ability to see future danger. Her consort is Darius. My other friends are Shaunee, the girl with brown skin like chocolate, Erin, the girl with the blond hair, and Damien, our very own dictionary. Now I’ll let Stevie Rae introduce the red fledging.” She turned to Stevie Rae who started to speak when Rephaim shivered. He turned to Stevie Rae and said, “I’ll find you when the sun goes down.” He turned and ran. She looked at me and said, “He was a Raven Mocker until he turned against his father and joined Nyx’s path. For that she gifted him with the form of a boy at night and as punishment for his past he turned into a raven during the day. Anyway the red fledglings are: Venus, who was Aphrodite roommate, Kramisha our Poet Laureate, Shaylin, who has True Sight, Johnny B, Elliot, Montoya, Shannoncompton, Sophie, Ant, and Gerarty.”

With that she let a huge yawn and said, “If you guys don’t mind I’ve got a coffin to go crawl in.” Zoey said, “You do not sleep in a coffin and yes, you can go to bed.” With that she, Stark and the red fledglings left. Zoey looked and said, “I think that about everything. If you need anything, my room is the one with the My Little Pony blanket. You’ll be staying in the room with Damien, if he doesn’t mind.” Damien shook his head and said, “I don’t mind.” With that everyone except Aphrodite and Zoey left. I was about to follow Damien when Zoey said, “I want to talk to you for a minute.” I turned and looked at her and said, “Talk about what?” She said, “You said yesterday, I would see you again, did you meant like this?” I nodded and she said, “How did you know?” I couldn’t tell her I was having visions so I just said, “I had a gut feeling.”

At that moment my cell rang. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and looked at the number. It was one of the dragons. In this life I was gifted with the ability to command all five elements as well as the possession of the fire dragon. The dragon calling was spirit dragon. I answered, “Hello, Shelly what’s going on?” My phone kept breaking up but I heard her say, “Trouble… south… too strong.” “What did you say?” I was aware of Zoey watching me. Then the voice became clear, “Sis, Where the hell are you? We’ve got problems down south. Angels, wolves, and dragons are breaking their oath and truces with us.” I jumped up and said, “What are you talking about those truces cannot be broken. Too much rest on those truces and every one of those oath, the whole world probably. Look Richard, You, Shelly, Maria, and Kara go and check our others allies and alliances I’ll go down south and try to talk sense and reason to those who are breaking away.”

Richard agreed and we hung up. Zoey and Aphrodite looked at me and Aphrodite said, “So are you going to talk to us.” I looked at them and said, “I can only tell you about me with the promise that you not tell the others just yet. I know all about you. I knew who everyone was before the introductions. I even know that Neferet cannot read either of your minds. But remember what I tell you, you cannot tell any of your friends or Thanatos. I know your friends can keep their mouths shut I even know you come up with ways to prevent Neferet from reading their minds but because of me, she’s bond to try harder. All she has to do is use Stevie Rae and all of your secrets will be out. Neferet has given herself completely to darkness and the thread will do anything she tells them to. So can I get your oath that whatever I tell you, you will not tell any of them just yet?”

Aphrodite and Zoey looked at each other and then Zoey says, “I give you my oath that anything you tell me, I won’t tell the others until you say I can.” I looked at Aphrodite and she said, “Fine, I give you my oath that I won’t say a word.” I said, “Good, now you two go to bed. I have to go and solve some problems. That’s all I can say at the moment but I promise to explain everything later.” With that, I went and found the ladder and climb out. The moment my wings expanded across my back, I jumped in to the air and called Shelly back. I told her I was flying south to go and talk some sense and she wished me luck.
