Chapter 5- Iron Skinned
I sighed. I hated this. I walked to the bleachers, sitting down and watching the others have fun. Only this time was different. I could tell this much.
The other students were sizing Solus up, but made no move or comment against him. He simply ignored them, looking at the teacher. After a moment the teacher clapped.
"Let us begin! The winners from last time get to choose who to battle first. Remember, no maiming, killing, permanently harming, and no teleporting people to a place they could never come back from." She looked pointedly at Henry, who smiled sheepishly. "Everyone understand?"
The class nodded. If they screwed up, depending on how badly, they might get a weeks suspension.
After everything was said and done, the top fighter, which happens to be Jonathan, stepped forward. He puffed out his chest proudly and stated so all could hear, "I challenge the new kid! Face me if you dare!"
All eyes turned to Solus. He looked a bit uncomfortable by the attention, but he stared Jonathan down. After a long quiet moment Jonathan started looking uneasy. Only then did Solus nod.
"I accept."
The two boys stood on either side of the gym, far enough that they have to run to get to each other, yet close enough it was practical. Solus looked at Jonathan, waiting for the first move. After a long pause Jonathan snapped his fingers, making swords appear. They floated around him menacingly. One of his eyes glowed purple with power. He grinned.
"I heard that you can't get hurt by ordinary metal. If that's true, then there's no reason for me to be gentle." He was acting confident, but there was a quiver in his voice. He was scared of Solus's raw power.
When Solus didn't say anything he looked a bit annoyed. He made the swords fly at Solus, too fast to react. At the last second Solus's eyes glowed. He jumped high in the air, 5 feet over the shooting wall of swords. He spread his wings and landed gently. Jonathan shot more swords at him, and he dodged to the side.
Time seemed to slow down. You saw as the sword hit Solus's shoulder, but it lightly deflected off of him. His skin had a very faint gold shimmer. The sword stabbed into the ground, slightly to the right and far behind Solus.
But why isn't he fighting back?

Chapter 9 is done
After all, I am a whiz with quizzes
Susie went on a walk across See More the park. Suddenly--
The word 'suddenly' adds suspense, and makes you want to know what happens next. You read on, often quicker, to match the pace of the story.
When your ending a chapter, put something that finishes your thought, yet has potential to open up the next chapter. I'm not sure how to make an example of this, so just look at the last sentence or words at the end of my chapters. It SHOULD make you think, make you wonder, what is going to happen next. Or even make some theories in your head for later in the book.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen next in my book?
@moonston
I hope I'm not confusing. that's one tip.
@moonston
For example, Ash (which can be a boy or a girl), has problems with their magic, and feels like Solus is kind and mysterious. She thinks he is powerful, but holding See More back.
In Solus's opinion (which I don't want to spoil anything so I'll be vague), doesn't feel right in the class. He is different, and everyone knows he's differernt, so he hides his secrets and thoughts well. In chapter 7, he starts taking more notice in Ash, cause she helped him.
