This show is AMAZING for being overly censored by the Chinese government, with subtle women empowerment (Wen Qing being a badass who can defend herself, a side character straight up LEAVING her clan because everyone was being sexist, when she wasn’t wrong and leaving the way she did was HEAVILY looked down at, to Yanli being a good older sister and caring for her brothers to her DYING moment) and the gay subtext of Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian See More (never having separate rooms but once, Wei constantly messing with LAN’s headband when “only s/os and children can touch it”, Lan basically being the only one to hear Wei out and try to keep him stable when Wei was going INSANE) it’s SO good
