Don't listen to her if she's just going to bring you down. It's your hair, and you should be able to do what you want with it. My advice is to tell her that she's wrong, but nicely, even though honestly it sounds like she needs to get cold hard truth right at her. I'm really sorry that she won't let you do what you want....
