I wonder why people just look over the fact that some Muslims voted for trump, as did some gays, blacks, and every other thing everyone says he hates, he still got votes from those people

I never understood how people go by "they them" pronouns my speech professor says that doing that is incorrect just due to they and them being plural I mean I get that people would go by they wand them if they are undefined it only because the only other option that would fit is "it" and nobody wants to go by it
"It" has a very dehumanizing connotation to it, its understandable why nobody would want to be referred to as an it. And although if you really get into it from a strictly grammatical standpoint, they/them might not be correct, but they/them is culturally lenient as a non-gendered way to refer to someone even when its not on the topic of gender neutral pronouns. See More Like, you could say "I'll call them" even if the person goes by he/she pronouns.
